Luis Leonardo Fernandez Rock Island, WA Luis Leonardo Fernandez, age 32, was born in Wenatchee, WA on May 15, 1982, to Maria Sanchez Casteneda and Jose V. Fernandez. Luis grew up in the Wenatchee Valley and attended multiple schools. He went to Wenatchee Valley College to be a counselor. He is survived by his children, Luis Angel Fernandez, age 12, Natalia Angelita Fernandez, age 11, and Elana Mari Fernandez, age 9; his parents; brothers and sisters, including Flora Fernandez, Vincente Fernandez, Juan Fernandez, Veronica Fernandez, M. Yolanda Fernandez, Jose Sanchez, Jesus Sanchez, Carlos Sanchez, and Rodrigo Sanchez, all of Wenatchee, WA; and several nieces, nephews, uncles, cousins, aunts, uncles and multiple family members. He enjoyed dancing, laughing, and singing Karaoke with sister, Yolanda. Dancing with sister, Flora, who taught him to dance to Mexican music at family BBQ’s in Chelan. He also loved singing “Oldies but Goodies” with his sister, Veronica. With his older brother, Juan, he loved to get ready for the day ironing, creasing their clothing and creating the perfect appearance for the day, spending quality time with one another, as little “bro” and big “bro”. He loved to always give good advice to his little brothers, Matias and Jesus, to be good people, to be good in school. He always found a way to make them laugh and smile. For them to always take care of our mom, since they were the younger ones of the family. He loved to call his Jefita, Maria, and tell her over the phone “Madresita Linda”, which means beautiful mother, and he would tell her to take care and for God to bless her everyday. He loved to tell his Jefito, Jose, every morning on the phone, “Daddy, I love you” and play music for him and for God to bless him everyday. Most of all, his children, nieces and nephews were his inspiration in life and his goal was to make them happy! Luis Leonardo Fernandez, a child, learned what he lived, as we all do. Only a faith in the God who made us, and knows us, and still accepts us can give us the power to relearn what we have lived as children. Luis was on his way. Our hearts are broken that he didn’t have the time… but perhaps we are the ones left here, who still need the time to learn that kind of faith. Thank you, Luis, for all you taught us in your life and your death. We love you forever and will meet you soon on the other side. Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wenatchee, with Interment following at Wenatchee City Cemetery. Rosary will be held at Jones & Jones~Betts Memorial Chapel in Wenatchee at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2015.
