Robert Donald Petersen

Robert Donald Petersen, was born on June 9, 1950, blessed with a loving heart. He made his appearance in Leavenworth, Washington to the delight of his parents and grandparents. He was welcomed with love and open arms. His first home was in Dryden, Washington, Valley Cottage Motel, which his father, uncle, and grandfather had built. He enjoyed riding their garden cart with motel guests’ children. He enjoyed a loving, close relationship with his family, and welcomed his two younger brothers. Time passed and soon he was a student at Robert E. Lee School in East Wenatchee. Enjoying his time there, he went on to Eastmont High School where he graduated and soon attended Wenatchee Valley College. In the work force, he never shunned hard work, and spent the majority of his life working at Cedargreens, and Quincy Foods. He enjoyed his job and valued his co-workers as good friends. He tried to learn their language, so he could understand them better. Even with limited words, they knew he most sincerely cared about them. Robert met Celia Carpenter, the love of his life, and they married, sharing a number of years together, living in East Wenatchee until his work took him to Quincy, Washington. He developed a special fondness for Quincy, and the people he lived amongst. As a youth, he had the opportunity to read the Bible and make his choice known to love the Lord, who he, thereafter, faithfully loved and served. He delighted to sing hymns of praise to GOD. He had a deep love for people, always wanting the best for them. When aggressive Glioblastoma brain cancer struck him, he moved to his parents’ home in East Wenatchee where he was gladly welcomed. He had surgery for the cancer, and chemo gave some relief. Time passed, and his condition seemed better. His parents had thought they would need to give him a lot of care; however, his reasoning was that GOD had spared him, so he could be a help to them. And a helper he was. As time passed, a second brain surgery was a cat scan seemed to bear that out. However, when an MRI was taken, it revealed that the cancer had grown upwards, and further chemo would not help. When his condition worsened, he was taken to Wenatchee Valley Medical Center Hospital. There his pain was lessened by helpful medication and excellent care provided by the Wenatchee Valley Medical Center Hospital nursing staff. Survived by Celia Petersen; his parents, Don and Darlene Petersen of East Wenatchee; his brothers, Rick Petersen of Spokane and Ron Petersen of East Wenatchee; nephews, Scott, Eric and Riley. Our beloved Robert passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Jones & Jones ~ Betts Memorial Chapel.
