Carrie Jones

Carrie Jones peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord surrounded by family on Monday, July 21, 2025. Carrie was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on January 4, 1955 to Leigh Sydney Wright and Alvara Mary Wright. There, Carrie’s brothers, Stewart, Peter and Andy were born. In 1963 the family moved to Hoonah, Alaska, where youngest brother Matthew was born. Carrie then moved to Glennallen, and finally to Petersburg where she graduated from high school. Her senior year was split between study in Spain and the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Carrie then attended Eastern Washington University where she met and married Carl Smith in 1974. They moved to Cashmere to be surrounded by the Smith family and to start a family of their own. For many years Carrie focused on raising children and supporting the family pottery business. She began working at Cashmere Middle School in 1988, first in the school office, and eventually retired as the school librarian after 20 years. In January of 2005 Carrie married Dale Jones. Carrie was an active member of her community for over 20 years. She helped with the costuming for the Cashmere High School drama program as well as spent the better part of 10 years working passionately with the Women’s Service League which included the My Girlfriend’s Closet fundraiser. Carrie also served as a faithful volunteer at the annual Be The Light kids adventure camp and every Thursday with Sage Hills Kids. Carrie was preceded in death by her father Sydney Wright, mother Vara Wright and brothers Stewart Leigh Wright and Peter Brian Wright. She is survived by husband Dale Jones, brothers Matthew Wright (Sue) and Andy Wright, children Charlie Smith (Meghan Madonna) and Cindi Addleman (Justin) and grandchildren Ella Addleman and Eilo Madonna-Smith. A celebration of life will be held at Sage Hills Church on Friday, August 8 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please send donations to the Women's Service League of North Central Washington, an organization near and dear to Carrie’s heart.
