David William Stedman February 26, 1969 to August 12, 2026 David William Stedman, 57, of Wenatchee, Washington, passed away on August 12, 2026. True to his lifelong motto, "Here for a good time," David lived fully, loved deeply, and left the people around him a little happier for having known him. David was born February 26, 1969, in Silver Spring, Maryland, to Dewey and Ruth Stedman. Growing up, he spent his childhood years in Arizona, Texas, Missouri, and Washington before the family settled in East Wenatchee, where he graduated from Eastmont High School in 1987. Even before graduating, David had already set his path. He joined the National Guard while still in high school. In total, he served four years in the Guard, two of them before going on to active duty in the U.S. Army and two more after his discharge, along with four years of active duty in the Army itself. As a Guardsman, he served as a marine diesel mechanic and was proud to be a plank owner of the USAV General Brehon B. Somervell, part of the original crew to sail her from harbor when the vessel entered service in 1988, with his name still marked on a plank aboard the ship. In the Army, he served as a watercraft engineer, running his own hovercraft and crew. While stationed at Fort Story in Virginia Beach, he had the rare opportunity to serve as a lifeguard on the very beaches he trained on, saving numerous lives during his time there and discovering a love of surfing along the way. David returned home to Wenatchee in 1993. It was in 1989 that David met the love of his life, Angela Davis. The two were married on August 11, 1990, and shared 36 happy years of marriage. David went on to build a 24-year career as a hydro mechanic for Chelan County PUD, retiring only when a medical condition made the decision for him. In 1995, David and Angela welcomed their son, Derek, followed by daughter Breanne in 1999. Fatherhood was, without question, the job David was proudest of and took most seriously, even while never taking himself too seriously. David was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan through and through. He loved hunting, fishing, deep sea fishing, and crabbing, with seafood always topping his list of favorite meals. A devoted Seattle Mariners fan, he also enjoyed a stretch playing in a local church baseball league and, in later years, found just as much joy diving into computers and gaming. He loved sharing concerts with his kids, passing along his love of music to the next generation. David is survived by his wife, Angela Davis Stedman; his son, Derek Stedman, and daughter, Breanne (Terry) Valdes, both of Wenatchee; his parents, Dewey and Ruth Stedman; his sister, Laura (Cliff) Gerry; his in-laws, Robert and Marilou Hughes; and his two brothers-in-law and their families. He is also survived by many other loving family members and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts, and uncles. A service celebrating David's life will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Jones and Jones-Betts Funeral Home, 302 9th St, Wenatchee, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David's name to the Mariner's Hometown Nine organization. David lived by his own words.
