Douglas John Bowen

Douglas John Bowen died peacefully on October 6, 2016 in Wenatchee, WA at the age of 76. Doug is survived by: his wife Carol; his children Gary and his wife Vickie, Nick, Michael and his wife April, his daughter Colleen; his siblings Wade Bowen and his wife Janie, Barbara Jones; Nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Stanley Bowen, his mother Mary Bowen, and his son, Mark Bowen. Doug was born on June 11, 1940 in Seattle to Stanley and Mary Bowen. He spent time at the University of Washington before moving on to restaurant managing. He managed and opened restaurants in Seattle, Yakima, Spokane and Wenatchee. Doug retired from Kentucky Fried Chicken in Wenatchee after 25 years at that location. He married Carol Jean Neff, his sweetheart, on May 27, 1960. After joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in August of 1960, Doug and Carol were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 26, 1962. Doug loved the gospel and was very active in his church serving in a variety of callings/positions including serving a mission with Carol in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission. He and his wife raised five children and three foster children. Doug was “Papa” to three other children as well. Doug enjoyed scouting, fishing, team sports and spending time with his family. He was generous, fun-loving and spent much of his time serving others. The family would like to express thanks to the care givers at Blossom Creek Assisted Living and to the staff at Jones & Jones-Betts for their care and sensitivity in providing the funeral arrangements. A funeral will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 2:30 pm at the Wenatchee LDS Stake Center. Condolences may be sent to 606 Lacey Place NE, East Wenatchee, WA 98802.
