George L. Dosser

George L. Dosser, 81 years old, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 11, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. George was born the youngest of three children in Portland, OR, on January 25, 1945. He was the son of George Alphist Dosser and Helen Hyde(Crossley) Dosser. Life began for George in Roseburg OR where his father was a logger. Over George’s childhood years, the family relocated several times, living in Oroville, WA, Deep Lake (Stevens County), and in the Spokane Valley. In 1955, George’s parents purchased acreage east of Spokane between Liberty Lake and Mica Peak, and here they established Dosser’s Feedlot/Ranch, where the family remained for the next 20 years. George attended Central Valley High School (Spokane, WA), class of 1963, where he excelled in both football and wrestling. CVHS is also where he would meet the love of his life, Lawana M. Ackerman. They were married in 1965 while he was attending Washington State University. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry. After graduation, they moved from Pullman, WA, to St. Louis, Missouri for a short time, where George worked as a meat inspector. They soon returned and settled on the family ranch. In 1967 & 1970, their children Kirk and Beverly were born. In 1975, shortly after George’s mother Helen, died unexpectedly, the family relocated to Wenatchee, WA where he and his father purchased and ran Wenatchee Meat Packing, and within a few years also Blue Ribbon Meats. They remained in the Wenatchee Valley area for the remainder of their years (but for 8 years in Cashmere, WA to have their children attend the Cashmere School District). In 1997, after getting out of the meat business, he and his friend/business partner, Jon Sjolander, established another business in East Wenatchee: Long Jon’s Laundromat. George was an active and involved husband, father and community member. He committed much time within and/or supporting: the Boy Scouts of America, coaching youth baseball, was a wrestling referee, and supported all of his children’s sports & activities. He and Lawana were active members of the Presbyterian Church, square dancing clubs, and softball leagues (Golden Ages Softball League player, coach, and tournament director). He was a member of the Elks Club, where he played handball for many years. George was a diehard fan of WSU Cougar Football, Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, and the Supersonics (which proved his determination and loyalty throughout the years) He was also a season ticket holder for both WSU football and the Seattle Seahawks, attending many games over the years with family and friends. George & Lawana loved to travel with friends and family, enjoying the Washington and Oregon coastlines, several winters in Arizona, cruises and many other destinations over the years. In 2004 George was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. In researching ways to best combat the disease, he found that boxing training exercises are an excellent therapy for this disease. He talked his massage therapist into the training and helped him establish Rock Steady Boxing in the Wenatchee Valley. George showed his resilience and toughness in his courageous 23-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, never giving up on his efforts and never ever complaining. Gorge lived to serve the Lord, his family, friends and work. He was especially known for motivating those around him to expect more from themselves to be the best they could be. He had the heart of a champion. George was a patient & loving man who believed in second chances; he would never give up on anyone! He was respected and loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by: his parents, George A. & Helen, Stepmother-Anne R. Shoemaker Dosser, his brother Larry, and later by his beloved wife of 59 years, Lawana Dosser. He is survived by: his sister Barbara Hensen, his children Kirk Dosser (Jackie Gregorich) & Beverly Strutzel (Paul Strutzel), his 4 granddaughters: Kamill Yacinich (Vic Paz), Kassidy Dosser (Brice Paine), Delaney McCabe (Jadon McCabe), Rhiannon McCallum (Tyler McCallum) and his 3 great grandchildren: Brady, Bayne & Bourne Paz-Yacinich and several nieces and nephews. We would like to give a special thank you to Casey and the rest of his care team, who enriched his life and helped to give him as much independence as possible in his final years.
