James Bert Carver III, known to all as Jim, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home in Sunnyslope on January 3, 2026, in Wenatchee, Washington, at the age of 87. Jim was born on September 23, 1938, in Kellogg, Idaho. From an early age, he carried a sense of adventure, independence, and determination that would shape the many chapters of his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, an experience that instilled in him a lifelong sense of discipline and hard work - values he carried forward in everything he did. Before settling into family life, Jim lived fully and boldly. He traveled extensively, skied and surfed, and even owned a successful tavern (Jim’s) in his hometown of Renton, Washington. He graduated from Renton High School and went on to attend and graduate from Central Washington University. It was there that he met the love of his life, Susan Judge of Ballard, WA - forever changing the course of his story and anchoring it in family and purpose. Jim was a visionary builder and entrepreneur. He owned and operated Carver Construction and Development, specializing in the design and construction of residential homes and land development. He was one of the first developers of the upper Sunnyslope area, creating the subdivisions Heather Lane and Tarn Place, along with countless homes throughout Sunnyslope, Wenatchee, and Lake Chelan. His work helped shape the landscape of the community he loved, and his legacy can still be seen in the neighborhoods and homes he built with pride and care. Beyond his career, Jim’s greatest joy was his family. He loved time spent skiing, boating, hunting, fishing, and especially being at Lake Chelan with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He lived his faith through action: providing, protecting, building, teaching, and loving with steadiness and humility. Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Carver; brother, Ron (Alana) Carver; son, Jason (Loesje) Carver; daughters, Tarne (Shawn) Short, Heather (Chris) Boll; grandchildren, Skylar Boll, Parker Boll and Teagan Short; and step-grandchildren McKaney Johnson and Kassidey Short. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Bert Carver II and Helen Carver, brother, John Carver, and grandson, James Short. His life was well lived and his impact enduring - his legacy of lasting friendships will remain with us forever.
