It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of John David Steelman, a beloved son, brother, and friend. John peacefully left this world on February 20, 2026, at the tender age of 42, unexpectedly in his sleep at his home. Born on December 15, 1983, in Edmonds, Washington, John graced the lives of those around him with his warmth, kindness, and boundless creativity. John was the cherished son of John B. Steelman and Kathleen Dibley, who nurtured his vibrant spirit and artistic talents from a young age. He was surrounded by the love of his siblings, Jamey Gorman Sr. of Ohio, Rachel Quintella Matthiesen and Erin Howard of Washington, Carrissa Quintella of Connecticut, and Andrew Young of Ohio, who will forever hold dear the memories of their brother's infectious smile and sense of humor. A proud graduate of Mansfield High School, home of the Kernels, in Mansfield, Washington, John completed his education in 2003. During his time there, he cultivated a passion for art that would remain a central part of his life. Known for his remarkable artistic abilities, John transformed his sketches into breathtaking murals that adorned various spaces. His creations were not only a testament to his talent but also a reflection of his understanding of the beauty in the world. Beyond his artistic pursuits, John was known for his immense empathy and generosity. He had heart as big as his dreams, always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends in need His capacity for kindness was matched only by his ability to bring joy to those around him with his playful jokes and radiant smile, complete with dimples that could light up any room. John is preceded in death by his dear aunt Beverly Ferry, his grandfathers George Steelman and Donald Dibley, grandmother Elizabeth Steelman, and great-grandmother Tracy Coffey. Their spirits undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms as he joined them in eternal peace. A graveside service to honor and celebrate John's life will be held on March 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Mansfield Cemetery, located on Cemetery Road in Mansfield, Washington. Family, friends, and all whose lives John touched are invited to gather and share in the remembrance of a life lived with love, laughter, and artistic brilliance. A reception will follow at Pioneer Hall in Mansfield. In these moments of reflection and sorrow, let us hold onto the joy John brought into our lives, cherishing the memories of his laughter, his art, and his unyielding kindness.
