It is with heavy hearts and loving memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Ken Christensen on June 16, 2026. Born on September 21, 1941, in Humphrey, Nebraska, Ken was a beacon of strength and kindness throughout his 84 years. He left us peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Ken was the beloved son of Nels and Rose Christensen, who predeceased him along with his brothers Roger, Dave, Chet, and baby brother Daniel. His cherished best friend Jim and his wife, Myrna Canterbury, also preceded him in passing. Ken leaves behind a family who adored him: his wife of 42 years, Deeda, his daughter Casey, and his grandson Hayden. He is also survived by his sister Lola and her husband, Bob, as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply. In June of 1984, in East Wenatchee, Washington, Ken married the love of his life, Deeda Gill, embarking on a beautiful journey that enriched their lives with laughter, adventure, and countless cherished memories. Together with their daughter Casey, they explored the beauty of life through camping, boating, and traveling, always sharing in the joy of Ken's mischievous antics and the warmth of his infectious smile. Ken honorably served in the Army from 1969 to 1972, instilling in him a strong sense of duty and camaraderie. His career was dedicated to the fire service, where he began as a fireman and rose through the ranks to retire as a Battalion Chief after 30 years of service. His dedication to his community continued as he served as a commissioner for the Douglas County Fire District. Ken's legacy is one of wit, kindness, and unwavering honesty. Known for his compassion and willingness to lend a hand, he was a friend to many and a source of strength to all who knew him. His life was a testament to the power of friendship, love, and laughter. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Toby Long, Dr. Byrd, the Oncology Department, and the Hospice staff for the exceptional care and compassion they provided Ken throughout his battle. A service to honor Ken's life will be held on June 27, 2026, at 2:30 PM at Jones and Jones, located at 302 9th St., Wenatchee, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ken's memory to the Wenatchee Humane Society or St. Jude's, organizations close to his heart.
