With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Meinzer, a treasured matriarch, whose life was a testament to love, joy, and cherished memories. Mary passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on August 16, 2024. Her home embodied the essence of her spirit; a warm haven filled with endless love, laughter that rang out, stories shared, and memories made. We are grateful she was able to spend her time and final moments within the walls that had enveloped the love of those she held dear. Born on June 3rd, 1924 in the town of Chelan, Washington, Mary was a vibrant spirit who made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered over her 100-year life. As a member of the graduating class of 1942 at Chelan High School, Mary embarked on her career in the close-knit community of Waterville. She worked for several years at the ASCS office and later took on the roles of school secretary and Clerk of the Board for the Waterville School District, dedicating 13 years to education. Yet her favorite position was serving as Bailiff for the Douglas County Superior Court from 1990 to 2002. She cherished this role not only for its responsibilities but also for the opportunity to work alongside her daughter. With her extraordinary memory, she could recall names of jurors long after their service, reflecting her genuine care and love for those around her. Mary was not only devoted to her work but also to her community. For over 50 years, she was an active member of the Harmony Chapter Order of Eastern Star, where she held the position of Worthy Matron seven times and was honored to serve as Grand Representative of British Columbia and Yukon, as well as a Deputy Instructor. Her spirit of perseverance continued and remained strongly evident as she proudly celebrated being a 50-year cancer survivor, walking in the Relay for Life numerous times with her family. This journey not only deepened her appreciation for life but also inspired those around her. Reminding them that even when skies are grey, the sunshine won’t be taken away. Among her many loves, crossword puzzles held a special place in her heart. Each completed crossword brought a sense of accomplishment, a small victory that brightened her day. Mary also loved her wine. She savored each sip, much like the memories and love she created. But Mary knew that the greatest puzzle piece of all was the one that she herself brought together…a love that continued to unfold with every open door, every shared glass of wine, and every completed crossword….Mary’s biggest love of all, was that of her family. Mary’s life was not just about the extraordinary years she lived, but the countless moments of love and joy she shared, shaping the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in profound ways. Her commitment to her family was unmatched, as she was the cornerstone to them all. Her spirit will live in every one of the following names.. Survived by her son, Greg Meinzer (Pam Nutter), and her daughters Juanita Koch (Don) and Janet Meinzer. A special thank you to Janet, who especially cared for Mary in her final years. She always expressed, "I just love my momma," and it was clear how deep that love ran. And continuing through to her grandchildren, Spencer Meinzer (Rebecca), Michael Koch (Tracy), Jen Staat (Dustin), Audra Koch, Casey Carrow (Ben), and Allison Meinzer. Additionally, her great-grandchildren: Jed and Caroline Meinzer, Dayne and Rease Koch, Marysue “Lily” and Quentin Staat, Preston and Caden Lewis, Carson Meinzer, Ashton Babst, Logan, Halston Carrow, and Ryleigh Meinzer and her great-great-granddaughter, Everleigh MaryAlice Meinzer. And many other family and friends. The bond shared by each one of them was truly extraordinary, a connection that is irreplaceable and will forever be cherished. Mary was preceded in death by husband, Virgil C. Meinzer, whose companionship she treasured throughout their years together. By her son, Virgil G (Bosco) Meinzer, a source of pride, joy and strength to all that knew him. And her granddaughter, Brooke Meinzer, whose laughter and spirit filled a room; additionally , her parents: Emma and George West; brothers:Homer, Cecil, and Merle West; sisters, Erma McKenzie, Bertha Masterson, and Dorothy Beckley. The family wishes to extend their deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary caregivers who provided unwavering support and boundless love throughout her journey. Each of you held a special place in her heart. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 13th, at 2 PM at Jones & Jones Betts, located at 302 Ninth St, Wenatchee, WA.
