Phyllis Lyon

Phyllis Eileen (Hougham) Lyon,71, went to be with the Lord at Central Washington Hospital, Wenatchee, WA on March 31, 2019 after a short battle with cancer. Born in Sterling, CO on April 27, 1947 to Ivan and Ethel Hougham, she was the fourth of six children, two boys and four girls: Marlin, Carol, Martha, Phyllis, Dorthea & Robert. The family also lived in Haxton and Ft. Collins, CO before moving to Leavenworth, WA in 1951. From there, Ivan's job with the Forest Service took the family to Ellensburg, Cashmere, then Wenatchee in 1962. Phyllis graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1965, then studied bookkeeping at Wenatchee Valley College. She worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company where she met future husband, Jerry Lyon and they married on October 25, 1969. Future employment took her to the front desk of the welfare office for about seven years, bookkeeping for a short time at Stemilt Fruit, then to a long term part-time position assisting close friend Jacque Boling as church secretary/bookkeeper of Wenatchee Foothills Foursquare Church. Phyllis and Jerry have been faithful in their church since the late 70's when they also adopted a son, John in 1979, who was six months old at the time. Phyllis enjoyed singing on the worship team, decorating and running media at church. She also enjoyed all kinds of hobbies from sewing doll clothes and quilting to crafts such as crocheting, painting, ceramics and stained glass. She loved car trips in the mountains and walking on the beach searching for shells. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, mother and brother Marlin. Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Jerry of Wenatchee, and son John of Grants Pass, OR and two grandchildren Dahlia (7) and Draven (6) of Everett. Also surviving are three sisters, a brother and a sister-in-law and their families: Carol (Loren) Lyons , Selah, niece Anna (Rob) Lyons-Ramsey and their two children, Chloe and Daxton, of Knoxville, TN, and Scott (Patrice) Lyons of Gilbert, MN and his daughter Zena. Martha (Dave) Fox, East Wenatchee, daughter Lena (Jaimie) Gouldin, Wenatchee and her daughter Halle, Cashmere, son Andy (Laura) & their daughters Emily and Lindsy, East Wenatchee, son Matthew (Danielle) and children Kairi, Liam, Khloe of East Wenatchee, and son Joe Fox, also of Wenatchee. Dorthea Paulson of Olympia, WA. Bob (Peggy) Hougham of Okanogan and their daughters Misty, Okanogan and Kristy Claire, Wenatchee. Bonnie (Marlin) Hougham of Wenatchee, daughter Karlyn Black of Puyallup and sons Jeff , Wenatchee and Alan, Limerick, ME. A memorial service will be held at her church, Wenatchee Foothills Foursquare Church, 315 S Mission St, Wenatchee, WA at noon followed by a meal in the fellowship hall.
