Ray H. Chambers

Ray Chambers was born in Dierks, AR, where he grew up with his seven brothers and one sister, until 1943, when the family began working their way to Wenatchee. After working on the railroad, Ray went back to Arkansas for a short time, but moved back to the Valley in 1953 and called it home, working many years in agriculture. In 1958, Ray married Helen Sue Turner. They later adopted two boys, Michael Ray Chambers and Mark Anthony Chambers. His mother, Elma, and father, Travis Chambers, both proceed him in death. A God loving man, Ray was blessed with a large family because the good Lord knew Ray had all the love to go with it. He always knew what his family doing. His nieces and nephews, whom he hadn’t seen in years, he always kept track of because of the love he felt for them. His brothers and sister he loved with utter abandon. His family he loved like few get to see. Ask anyone about Ray and you’ll hear about stories that he had heard of or jokes that he told, always smiling and always happy, always wanting to share the laughter. There were so many friends throughout his life, it shames me that I can’t recall them all. If you were lucky enough to call him friend, then you had a friend for a lifetime. Whom Ray leaves behind is his two sons, Michael Chambers and Mark Chambers, daughter-in-law, Tiffany Chambers, grandsons, Logan Chambers, Jordan Chambers-Aguigui and Jedidiah Chambers, granddaughter, Alicia Henley, great granddaughter, Karma Chambers and sister, Evelyn. He will be missed by every life he touched. It isn’t often in life where you meet a man that can lift your spirit by only his presence. He prayed nightly for his family and friends. I’m his son, Michael, and I never knew how much or how many he prayed nightly for. The last 5 years of his life, I got the honored privilege of hearing those prayers, as he didn’t know I was standing nearby. He prayed for all his relationships and all of his friends. He had such a good and loving heart, every night he would tell me, “Son, be sure you tell everyone I love them”. I think he loved the world and the life it had given him. He would tell us as kids, “Don’t kill no dead snakes” or “Don’t drink out of no dry mud puddles”… Ray is now with his friend Jesus and we’ll never have to worry about him doing either. The world will dearly miss him. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 P.M on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Evergreen Memorial Park.
