Shanon Lavon Adam

Shanon Lavon Adam, 89, went peacefully to the Lord on November 17, 2023. She was born to Carl and Jessie Hurt on December 6, 1933 in Monitor, Washington. Shannie grew up in Dryden, where she attended grade school and high school. It was there that she met so many of her life-long friends that meant so much to her throughout her life. The stories of her friendships growing up were a source of joy for her as she would tell them to family and friends. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Ed Adam. They met at the Wenatchee Roller Skating Rink and it was love at first sight. They married in April of 1951 and Ed was soon deployed to Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas for military duty. Shannie lived with Ed in El Paso for a short time and then moved back to Dryden after the birth of their first child. Upon Ed’s discharge from the military, they purchased their first home and spent the rest of their lives in the community that meant so much to them. She enjoyed raising her family; which was her pride and joy. There were so many days that she discussed the accomplishments of her boys and so many other kids she loved from working at the high school. The relationships formed with students were something she greatly cherished. Shannie was very active in the community as a member of the Dryden Improvement Club. She loved working with the ladies of the community on their various fundraising events and getting together to visit. She was also a member of the Catholic Church where she developed a relationship with our Lord that paved the way for her road to his kingdom. Shanon was preceded in death by her mother Jessie Gilbertson, step-father Orville Gilbertson, brother Jim Hurt, son Kenneth Adam, and beloved husband Edward Adam. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Kelly) Adam of Cashmere, Robert (Linda) Adam of Cashmere, Shawn (Karen) Adam of Spokane, Kevin (Ruth) Adam of Hanson, ID; grandchildren, Josh, Micah, Zach, Jessie, Brandon, Griffin, Kendall, Jessica, and Brooke; great-grandchildren Tyler, Jake, Arman, John, Victoria, Donovan, Raiden, Hyrum, Eli; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to thank Prestige Senior Living of East Wenatchee; Miriam and Staff at Caring Cottage; Blossom Creek, and hospice for the love and care they provided our dear mother. There will be a graveside service at the Cashmere Cemetery on Wednesday, December 6 at 11:00 am for family and friends. We will be honoring the lives of Shanon and Kenneth Adam. It will be followed by a celebration of life at the Dryden Improvement Club.
