Susan Nash Howard

Susan Nash Howard, born in Wenatchee, Washington, embarked on a life journey marked by adventure, elegance, and an indomitable spirit. The daughter of Charles Woods Nash, Sr., and Aileen Haidee Brierly Nash, Susan spent her early years in Wenatchee, attending Columbia Elementary School. Her family's moves took her to Prince Rupert and later to Vancouver, BC, where she attended Crofton House Boarding School, fostering a love for learning and independence. At Washington State College (now WSU), Susan began in engineering but found her true calling in social sciences, becoming one of the first graduates to receive a degree in humanities. A proud Pi Beta Phi sister, she met her first husband, Gordon Lee Cammack, through their Greek affiliations. They married on October 8, 1955, beginning a life of adventure through military bases in Texas, Arizona, California, and Washington. Together, they welcomed two children, Gordon C. Cammack and Heidi S. Cammack. Susan's entrepreneurial spirit shone through The Green Turtle Clothing Boutique, which she owned and operated in Wenatchee. Known for her impeccable fashion sense, she turned the boutique into a cherished local destination, curating unique, timeless pieces that reflected her vibrant personality. Susan found love again with Glen Leonard Howard, marrying on December 24, 1986. Their partnership was filled with laughter, travel, Seahawks games, and their shared passion for horses. They raised over ten baby horses, cared for their beloved Continental Classy, Penuche, and Fiona, and embraced the joy of daily rides and dude ranch adventures. Glen's passing in 2001 was a profound loss, but Susan continued to live life fully, surrounded by friends, family, and her treasured horses. Susan's life was rich with relationships that spanned decades. She had a gift for friendship, turning connections into lifelong bonds. Losing her immediate family early in life, she created a chosen family of friends who became her brothers, sisters, and confidantes. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing with them her love for horses, Broadway shows, football, and the art of a well-timed joke or spirited debate. Her passions were many—from unique, one-of-a-kind fashion and jewelry to collecting coins and Krugerrands. She loved Broadway plays like *Oklahoma*, cherished time at Lake Chelan, and never missed an opportunity for a good argument, always delivered with wit and charm. Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Aileen Nash; her brother, Charles "Chuck" Nash, Jr.; and her beloved husband, Glen Howard. She leaves behind her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a vast network of friends who were family in every sense. A celebration of her remarkable life will be held on March 17, from 9-11 a.m., at the LocalTel Event Center at Pybus Market. In honoring Susan, we celebrate a life lived with style, courage, and an unwavering zest for all that life had to offer.
