Tim Frank Leighton

Tim was born on a Thursday afternoon, June 11, 1970, in Seattle, WA. His parents were Stephen T. Leighton and Linda C. Leighton. He grew up in Lynnwood, WA with his big sister, Yvonne (Evie), who became (and remained) his “protector” and friend, and he adored her for the rest of his life. When he was 14, he gained a “Step” Dad, Reed Prosser, who was there for everything he needed, from the age of 9 years old on. When he was 15, his “little brother” Mathew (Prosser) was born. For the next 4 years, he was a fun, and caring influence on Mathew—who called him “Bum”, from the time he learned to talk. Mathew grew taller than his big brother, and the love they shared was a joy, in spite of the age difference, throughout their lives. Tim graduated from Meadowdale High School, in Lynnwood, WA, in 1988. The following year he went into the Navy. After boot camp in San Diego, CA, he served the remainder of his enlistment in Mayport, FL. He was a proud US Navy Veteran. While in the Navy, he began corresponding with a girl he knew in High School, Christine Henry. When he got out, they continued their relationship, and in 1994, their daughter, Kassandra (Kassie) was born. They married on July 14, 1996, and two years later their son, Timothy (Timmy) joined them. They settled in Monroe, WA, until 2002, when they made the move to the beautiful Cashmere Valley. Tim absolutely loved it over there. At the time of his death, he was employed by Atech Logistics, delivering NAPA Auto Parts on a route that took him close to the Canadian border, every night. He was only about an hour or so into his route, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, October 25, 2017, when he passed away, near Pateros, WA. Tim was preceded in death by his Wife, and “best friend”, Christine (Chris) Henry Leighton; his Father, Steve Leighton; both sets of Grandparents; two very close Aunts, Terri Mortiboy and Sherri Karl—and other family members. He is survived by his beloved family members—all of whom loved him beyond measure as well: Daughter, Kassie Leighton and Grandson, Mason Roberts; Son, Timmy Leighton; Mother, Linda (Reed) Prosser, Step-Mother, Lorraine Schrock Leighton; Sister, Evie (Dan) Green & family; Brother Mathew (Karisa) Prosser & family; Uncle, William Webb and son; Aunt, Kathy (Jess) Elder & son; his Cousins; Lisa Budnick, Tricia (Terry) Warren, Cori (Mike) Tipps and Christie Mortiboy Havens—and their families; his lifelong buddy, Jamey (Christy) Clark and family, and many others whose lives he touched. At the time of his death, Tim was living with his daughter and grandson, in Cashmere. He treasured the relationship they had built, and loved time spent just “hanging out” and having long talks with his daughter. He missed , and was so proud of his son, Timmy, who is now in the USAF, Minot, ND. He was looking forward to taking vacation next spring (after the snows) and flying back to visit him. He was a beloved Dad; a wonderful, loving Son; beloved Brother, Cousin, Nephew and friend.. He will be missed by all who knew him. Tim shared special, “affectionate” nicknames for those he cared about, and they had the same for him. We will all love and miss this wonderful “Jackass”, “Bum” and my “little Turd”, for as long as we live. Gone way too soon... A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 8th, 2017, 4:00 P.M., at Edmonds Cemetery, 820 15th St. SW, Edmonds, W 98020. A Celebration of Life will follow, at Edmonds Senior Center, on the waterfront, just south of the ferry dock: 220 Railroad Ave., Edmonds, WA 98020, from 5:30 P.M. - 8:30 P.M. It will be in the upstairs ballroom. Food and beverages will be provided by the family, "potluck" style.
