Janet Davis Knapp

Janet Davis Knapp, 91, of Wenatchee, WA died peacefully Monday, August 13, 2012 at her home at the RiverWest Retirement Community, with family members at her side. Janet was born July 10, 1921 in Tacoma, WA to George Washington Hudson Davis and Frankie Niles (Wotton) Davis. She spent her childhood years in Olympia, Grayland, Claremont, CA; and Tacoma where she graduated from Stadium High School in 1939. She attended Washingon State University. She married Robert K. Brabrook in 1943. Together they had 5 children. They resided in Aberdeen, Olympia, Spokane, Puyallup, and East Wenatchee. Janet married Warren W. Knapp in 1962 and together had one child. They resided in the San Francisco, CA area for 25 years, Connecticut, Grayland and Ocean Shores, WA for several years, before Janet returned to Wenatchee in 2002 to be near her family. Janet was active in theatre in high school, and continued her acting in many community theatre productions. She played tennis and was especially proud of winning 9th place in the Pacific Coast Singles, during high school. She worked as a veterinary assistant to her first husband, was a children's librarian, bookkeeper, catering hostess, and office manager, as well as a homemaker. She was the charter president of the Aberdeen Zonta Club, active in the Wenatchee Lady Lions and Childrens Orthopedic Guild. Janet enjoyed car races, cooking, needlepoint, gardening, and especially loved the ocean, clamming, and her homes at the beach. She was known by her friends at RiverWest, as the 'pretty lady with the beautiful apartment'. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Ann and Niles, husband Warren, and two grandchildren. Janet is survived by her children Susan Brabrook McDonald of East Wenatchee, WA, Mary B (Philip) Long of Chelan, WA, Jane (Bruce) Williams of Selah, WA, Robert G. Brabrook of Grapeview, WA, Jill B (Doug) Jones of Wenatchee, WA and Sandra (Keith) Golding of Englewood, CO., 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 2pm at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 428 King Street, Wenatchee, WA.
