Katherine B. Wiczai Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

KATHERINE (KAY) J. BURGESS WICZAI, age 96, passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2020 at her home in Cashmere, WA. Up until her death, Kay was in good health and just over a month away from her 97th birthday. Kay was born in Dahlgren, King George, Virginia on February 28, 1923 to her loving parents, Byard Benjamin (BB) Burgess and Alice E. Dudley. She was preceded in death by her parents, BB and Alice Burgess, her siblings, Vincent B. Burgess, Carmen A. Burgess Shoemaker, Margorie L. Burgess Wiegenstein Mills, and Norman Dudley Burgess, her husband Louis James Wiczai Sr., her dearly beloved son L. James Wiczai, Jr., and step grandson, Pete Farry. Kay is survived by her daughter, Anita Burgess Jones, her beloved granddaughter, Casey J. Chapman and great-grandson, Jeffrey Burch and his wife, Jessica. Kay was especially close to Casey and Jeffrey who both brought her great joy and mutual support over the years. Kay is also survived by her daughter-in-law Karen Kirby (Wiczai), step grand-daughter, Lisa Farry Jennings, and several nieces and nephews. Kay was particularly close to her niece Lana Shauer. Kay spent many of her adult years in Southern California up until about 20 years ago when she moved to Cashmere, Washington to be closer to family. Kay was a very kind and loving woman who was always there to help others, particularly her family who she loved deeply. She was also an avid Bridge player and had many friends who also enjoyed the game. Kay worked for the Federal Government for many years with expertise in Human Resources.
