Ada O. Jared

Ada Oklahoma Fears Jared was born February 8, 1918 in Ada Oklahoma to Winifred and William Fears. She married William “Bill” Jasper Davis Jared December 29, 1932, in Oklahoma. She was the mother of William Phillip Jared, deceased, Dora Frances Jared McCollum of Kennewick and Julius Duane Jared of Auburn. The family moved from Oklahoma to Washington State in 1944 and settled in the Wenatchee Valley. They lived in South Wenatchee and Ada began working in the fruit sheds. She worked in the fruit industry for many years. In 1947, the family moved to Rock Island. In 1953, the Jared family moved to Maple Street in Wenatchee and Bill purchased Viewdale Service Station on South Wenatchee Ave. Ada helped Bill in the service station for many years, and was well known to those who traded with Bill and Ada. Bill soon began selling used cars and Ada handled much of the gas sales. In 1982, Bill retired from the gas station and used car sales and he and Ada retired to their home on 2nd Street in East Wenatchee where they raised nut trees, fruit trees and had a big garden. Ada was known for her green thumb and her hospitality. Their final home in the valley was on 10th Street in East Wenatchee where Ada spent time taking care of Bill in his declining health. In 1999, Bill passed away and in 2003, Ada moved to Highgate House, Wenatchee. In 2007, she moved to Arbor Village in Kent Washington to be closer to family. In June 2009, Ada moved to the Lodge at Arbor Village in Kent, a Memory Care facility. Ada was an avid reader, gardener and cook. Some of her happiest moments were when she could cook and have all her children and grand-children for dinner. Big family dinners were always a part of her life. She always said moving to the Wenatchee Valley was one of the best things in her life. She loved growing fruits, vegetables and flowers in Wenatchee. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Bill and her eldest son, Billy and her youngest brother, Leon Fears. She is survived by her daughter Dora, her son Julius and his wife Ellen, her daughter-in-law, Joan, and grandchildren, Kimberly Michaud, Milton. MA, Kenneth Jared, Windham, MA, Karla Dyer, Windham, MA, Duane McCollum, Maple Valley WA, Christine Bjornson, Federal Way, WA, Robert Jared, Redmond, WA, Kim Hisey, Dennis Neville, and William Jared all of East Wenatchee. She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren. She leaves her brother Ray Fears of Wenatchee, and two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law living in Oklahoma. Ada had many friends in the Valley and will be missed by all of us. Graveside Celebration Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 15, 2011 at Evergreen Memorial Park
