Ethel Lillian Turnipseed

In Memoriam Ethel Lillian (Marr) Turnipseed born February 08, 1922 to the parents of Wilbur Guilford Marr & Zella Adelia (Zimmerman) Marr. She passed with grace, surrounded by love with family by her side on Saturday October 30, 2010. A lifelong resident to the Wenatchee Valley, the roots of her family tree run deep and her branches spread far and wide. She was raised on The Marr Homestead with 2 brothers and 3 sisters. She graduated Wenatchee High School in May 1940. On March 30, 1944 she married her high school sweetheart Tim Turnipseed. Together they raised five daughters, endearingly called “The Turnipseed Girls.” She was a pillar and foundation for the family she cherished and loved. Every pie baked, every jar of jam made and every Sunday dinner prepared was a labor of love for those that mattered most to her...Her Family. She held various jobs, working until she was 80 years of age. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, canning, baking, crocheting and ceramics. Ethel is survived by her sister & brother in-law Peggy & Ron Duncan (East Wenatchee) and sister in-law Kathy Marr; Daughters and son in-laws include: Karen Turnipseed (East Wenatchee), Marsha & Ed Giertz (Bonny Lake WA), Mary Jo & Tom Gash (East Wenatchee), Nancy & Bob Van Hoven (Wenatchee) and Jennifer Crump (East Wenatchee); Grandchildren include: Debbie & Bob Brown (Federal Way WA), Barbara Wilson (East Wenatchee); Karolyn & Glen Pyle (Phoenix AZ), Kathleen & Mike Young (Snohomish WA), Heidi & Shawn Ralton (Bonney Lake WA), Timothy & Sheila Giertz (Sumner WA); Kyle & Amy McCubbin (Wenatchee WA), Jared McCubbin (East Wenatchee), Kyra Gash (Wenatchee), Brian Gash (Birch Bay WA), Randy Curry (Bothell WA); Kimberly & Troy Toftness (Wenatchee); Kristin & Jay Yanik (Rock Island WA), Joshua Crump (Bellingham WA); Great grandchildren include: Mackenzie & Brayden Brown; Daria & Alena Young; Mikayla & Ryan Pyle; Alison (Nelson), Colby, & Blake Ralton; Benjamin Giertz; Mariah & MiKayla McCubbin, Gabe Seward; Samantha & Sabrina McCubbin; Madison, Austin, Carson & Peyton Curry; Phyneus Gash & Ian Kramer; Brock Toftness; Abrahm Jones; Gracie Yanik and one more Toftness baby girl on the way. Great-great grandchildren include: Liam & Henley Nelson. Ethel was a favorite Auntie to many nieces and nephews as well as their children. She lived with unconditional love, compassion and devotion to every member of her family… Lovingly welcoming her into their arms and preceding her in death were her parents Wilbur & Zella Marr, husband Tim Turnipseed, 2 brothers James & Emerson Marr, 2 sisters Helen Mulloy & Edna Standerfer, Granddaughter Kelleen Giertz, Grandson Kelly Van Hoven and Great-Granddaughter Skylar Rae Toftness. Service of commemoration will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Jones & Jones ~ Betts Funeral Home, 302 Ninth Street, Wenatchee, following with the internment at Evergreen Memorial Park with reception at Eastmont Community Church,783 4th Street NE. East Wenatchee, WA.
