Frank Joseph Braun

Frank Joseph Braun was born January 22, 1925, in Rantoul, IL and passed away October 27, 2014, in Wenatchee, WA. Frank retired from the United States Air Force in 1968, as an Aircraft Maintenance Crew Chief. He served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. While serving in the Air Force, his duty assignments included: Texas, New Mexico, Japan, Germany, Libya, Washington D.C.(where he participated in the inaugural parade for President Eisenhower), New Hampshire, Alaska, Oklahoma, The Philippines, and Florida, where he retired. He visited many countries all over the world while serving his country and was truly an example of what we now call “The Greatest Generation”. After retirement, in 1968, he moved to Washington State to work for Boeing. After several years, he was employed by Washington State Department of Corrections, where he had his second retirement. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and cruising in Europe and Alaska. He was a lifetime avid collector of many fine collectables. He dreamed of owning a Boston Whaler boat and traveling down the Columbia River, then on to Alaska to go boating and halibut fishing. He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife and mother of his children, Doreen. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary (Morse) Braun; and children, Richard (Christine) and Jennifer Olson, who he loved and was very proud of, both of Everett, WA; grandchildren, Mallory (Mike) Miller and Meaghan (Eric) Padilla of the Tri-Cities, and Anthony Braun of Ellensburg, WA; step-children, Summer (Joe) Federico of Snohomish, WA and Lindee (Chris) Akers of Wenatchee, WA; and siblings, Charles of Texas, Richard E. of Italy, Joseph (Agnes) of Colorado, and Carolyn Zumbuehl of Texas. He is also survived by many more wonderful family members and friends, whose lives Frank touched throughout his life, almost 90 years. We will miss his silly jokes, endearing smile and infectious laugh, as he had a great sense of humor that touched all of those around him. The family would like to thank all the staff and friends at Highgate Senior Living for taking care of our dear husband, father, brother and friend over the last years of his life. He loved you all. Funeral Services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery with full military honors on Monday, November 10, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. and a Memorial Reception will be held at Highgate Senior Living in Wenatchee, WA on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. All who knew Frank are welcome to attend.
