John Matthew Vranjes Brewster, WA June 8, 1941-March 5, 2016 John was born June 8, 1941 and passed away suddenly in his home on March 5, 2016. John was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. After high school and a short time in college, John served briefly with the military and then was relieved and entered into the small business at his 76 Station in downtown LA. That was where he met Sue Terry and they married July 27, 1968. Together and in love they celebrated over 45 years and raised three children. They decided to move to Washington State in 1986 after selling their businesses. They moved built a beautiful home and spent 30 active years in the Brewster and Bridgeport communities. Although John retired in Brewster, he decided to give farming a try. He planted 3.5 acres of cherries and was self-taught at how to work his crop. He maintained that orchard for over twenty five years and only ever had to hire pickers to harvest his crop. He had great pride in his work and just had finished pruning his trees this year with assistance for the first time. His hobbies outside of work included: camping, USC football, cars, and his ultimate passion was golf. John lived a healthy, active, and full life. He is preceded in death by his father, Sam Vranjes and mother, Ruth Vanna-Vranjes; along with his only brother, Sam Vranjes; and his loving wife, Sue. who passed away in 2013. He is survived by his children: Terry Matthew Vranjes and Traci Jo Vranjes-Phillips; a son-in-law, Dan Phillips; and two grandchildren, Ethan and Carlyn; a stepson, Stephen Timothy Wapato and stepdaughter, Jennifer Dobbs; a nephew, Sam Vranjes and niece, Antoinette Vranjes; and a cousin, Rose Ann Areu; also a close friend Judy Clipps; and his golfing friends who he felt were family. Friends may visit and view, Thursday, March 10, from 2pm-5pm. A memorial service will be held, Friday, March 11 at 11:00 am at Jones & Jones – Betts Memorial Chapel, 302 9th Street, Wenatchee, WA. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, 1301 10th Street NE, East Wenatchee, WA. Flowers may be purchased from Apple Blossom Floral, (509)884-7838.
