Robert E. Robinson

Robert E. Robinson, 92, of Ellensburg, went to be with the lord on April 28, 2012. An avid fisherman and hunter, he loved gardening, westerns and his morning coffee; but most of all he enjoyed the company of his family friends and neighbors. Robert was born in Ellisford, Washington on September 18, 1919 to Vernon and Ruth (Née Verbeck) Robinson, the fifth of ten children. On April 9, 1939 he married Marie Dunlap, with whom he celebrated their 65th anniversary prior to her passing in 2004. After serving his country in Europe in World War II as a sharpshooter and a member of the Army’s 276th field Artillery Battalion, he returned to his family in Washington, living in Oroville for a time and then working as a Civilian at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane. Shortly thereafter, he purchased an orchard near Tonasket from his father; he remained in Okanogan County, working as an orchardist and farmer until 1967, when he and his family moved to East Wenatchee. Robert retired from the Wenatchee Bureau of Reclamation in 1981, but remained an active member of the Wenatchee Free Methodist church until 2001, when he and Marie moved to Yakima. In addition to his wife, Marie, Robert was preceded in death by his parents; by two brothers, Norris Robinson and Neil Robinson; and by two sisters, Esther Robinson and Eva Byrd. He is survived by four brothers, Roland Robinson, Alfred Robinson, Ivan Robinson, and Leland Robinson; by his sister Peggy Visser; by his daughters, Marilyn Hough of Yakima; Esther Robinson of Ellensburg; Kathleen Reid of Ellensburg; and Karen Sisson of Brush Prairie; and by ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. A memorial service will be held on Friday May 4, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Jones & Jones ~ Betts Memorial Chapel in Wenatchee with Interment following at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee. Visitation will be held on Friday May 4, 2012 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Jones & Jones~ Betts Funeral Home.
