Terry L. "Butch" Evans

Terrance Lloyd "Butch" Evans passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, in Wenatchee, Washington, at the age of 86. He was born on February 26, 1940, in Omak, Washington, to Chet and Bessie Evans. He spent his childhood in Omak, where he developed a lifelong love of the outdoors. As a young boy, he enjoyed skiing at Loup Loup Ski Area and spent many hours fishing and hunting in the hills and rivers of North Central Washington. During his youth, Butch also spent time at the Morris-Sach Ranch on Badger Mountain. It was there that George Vincent, who became his grandfather after marrying his grandmother, Lola Vincent, taught him many practical outdoor skills, including how to skin a deer. These early experiences helped shape the independence and appreciation for the outdoors that stayed with him throughout his life. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout, an achievement that reflected his determination, work ethic, and strong sense of responsibility. He graduated from Omak High School in 1960 and was soon afterward, as he liked to say, "cordially invited" to join the U.S. Army. He proudly served from 1960 to 1963 and often described his time in the Army as some of the happiest years of his life. After returning home, Butch worked at Chet's Auto Service, the family service station owned by his father. It was there that he met his future wife, Gwen. The two were married on February 24, 1967. In 1966, he began what would become a 30-year career at ALCOA, where he worked until retiring in 1997. After retiring, he went to work at Sangster Motors, doing dealer trades from 1997 to 2010. Butch and Gwen raised two children, Greg, born in 1970, and Kelly, born in 1972. Throughout his life, Butch remained an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed many days outdoors in Riverside, Washington, with his in-laws. He also loved working on cars and was especially proud of his 1965 Rambler Marlin. He enjoyed spending time in the garage working on cars with his son Greg, creating many lasting memories together. His interest in classic cars led him to join the Antique Auto Club, where he enjoyed spending time with fellow enthusiasts. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and sharing stories, laughter, and the simple pleasures of life. Terry "Butch" Evans will be remembered for his independence, his easy smile, his love of the outdoors, his black coffee, and the many friendships he built throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Gwen; son, Greg; daughter, Kelly; sister Sandee, brother Gary; five grandchildren, Nicolo, Devin, Roy, Abby, and Penny; great-granddaughter Maylin; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family.
